Special Characteristics:
  • The trifoliate leaves are soft blue-green. The foliage remains attractive all season until it dies back to the ground in the winter. Foot-long, lupine-like spires of blue, pealike flowers are produced in the spring just after leaves emerge. Once the flowers drop, seedpods with a sharp tip at the apex develop.
